Description K6PC-5 is a Sphingosine kinase 1 (SphK1 or SK1) activator that increases sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) production, an active metabolite of sphingolipid. S1P can modulate multiple cellular responses including [Ca2+] signaling, growth, survival, and differentiation. K6PC-5 regulates both differentiation and proliferation of keratinocytes via [Ca2+]i responses through S1P production, which may be used for the treatment of skin disorders characterized by abnormal differentiation and proliferation, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
